Due to the highly efficient nature of the Liquavista pixel design and, it’s ability to switch at video compatible speeds (<10mS), HEOS displays demonstrate a significant improvement in performance whether the application be inside or outside.
LCDs, for example, lose a minimum of 50% of the light, as a result of the need for polarisation. Further significant light losses are incurred as a result of attempting to increase effective viewing angles.
Compared to transmissive or emissive displays, HEOS displays face none of the obvious limitations of legibility when placed in direct sunlight.
Liquavista’s application of electrowetting pixel designs have no intrinsic limitations on viewing angle, and do not require any form of polarisation. As a result, even in purely reflective mode, our displays provide excellent performance under almost all usage cases. Whilst in high ambient light environments, they perform as vividly as high quality, colour print would.
