Final countdown in Barca

This week, we were part of the finals of the Eurecan European Venture Contest, which had its final in Barcelona. About 800 companies entered this series of events, organized by Europe Unlimited in March, more than 350 were chosen to present. Next, 100 companies were selected for the semi-finals and of these, 25 made it into the final. Counting down, therefore.

European VC Community alive and kicking!

Last week on Monday and Tuesday I had the honor of being part of the European Venture Summit in Dusseldorf, organized by Europe Unlimited. This meeting is a gathering of the best 120 ventures in Europe pitching to a large group of investors. Of course, with all these entrepreneurs and investors present also other companies, such as investment bankers, valuation companies and headhunters made sure they were present, making the whole thing a very lively meeting.

FPD a Triumph!

FPD proved to be a spectactular success for Liquavista with the reception to our latest demos extremely positive. People got the chance to see for themselves what high performance paperlike displays with a fast dynamic display interface can do for next generations EBRs.

At the same time they got a look at how good colour and video can be in a new generation of display that we call LCD2...

eReaders: a revolution yet?

I was reading this week a blog by the BBC journalist Rory Cellan-Jones. He'd bought a Kindle over the weekend and was experimenting with some of the features and downloads.

It was interesting to hear his thoughts on the first generation of this digital revolution and interesting to hear that he saw great value in using the Kindle to read books but wasn't quite sure it was ready for Newspapers...
