eReaders: a revolution yet?

by Anthony Slack

I was reading this week a blog by the BBC journalist Rory Cellan-Jones. He'd bought a Kindle over the weekend and was experimenting with some of the features and downloads.

It was interesting to hear his thoughts on the first generation of this digital revolution and interesting to hear that he saw great value in using the Kindle to read books but wasn't quite sure it was ready for Newspapers.

In my own experience this is where a lack of video ability really disadvantages something as complex to portray as a newspaper and where the web newspapers work so much better for a reader. Video with news adds a new dimension to the news story and leads to a much more satisfying experience - even better than when you read an ordinary paper newspaper.

Also, current eReaders come with a hefty price premium. Yet they don't offer a premium experience or set of functions. A clear case of technology being the limiting factor!

If you'd like to read Rory's piece then please find it here on the BBC website -
