Manufacturing
The rate that flat panel display manufacturing has grown and the scale
of investments made is a testament to the importance of today’s display
industry. To contemplate the development and promotion of a new technology,
without considering accessibility of large scale manufacturing resource
would challenge the benefits of even the most exciting of technologies.
That
is why, from the outset, Liquavista has developed electrowetting display
technology to be almost entirely compatible with existing display manufacturing
techniques and processes. In fact, more than 90% of the manufacturing cycle
use standard LCD manufacturing equipment and processes. Called LCD 2.0,
this enables our partners to quickly translate their manufacturing skills
to our new displays and bring exciting products to life with both enhanced
usability and performance.
The only exception is a proprietary and patented low-cost, scalable fill
process which, performed at the bipane level, even improves further on
the standard LCD manufacturing cycle.
Liquavista's displays have been developed to use conventional LCD substrates.
Electrowetting displays use conventional modularisation and integration
techniques and can utilise standard driver IC’s
